Smells like CCS!!

On Friday, October 19th, MHS hosted the York School. Still in contention for 2nd place, the Lady Dores took to the field with CCS on the brain. Forward, Christina Wood helped out with a solid break away early in the first half. Once in scoring position, Wood went in for the goal. York answered back, going into the half all tied up. The second half was dominated by MHS, putting up to more goals, one by Chelsea Persons and the last by Wood. Final score 3-1, bringing MHS to a league 6-3-0.

Fall Break Breaks Lady Dores Streak

MHS @ N. Salinas- Going into October 12th's game against North Salinas, all the Lady Dores had to do was win in order to clench 2nd place in the MTAL league. However, the absences over fall break wreaked havoc over the 5-1-0 Dores, forcing the team to play short and with no subs. The Vikings seized this opportunity, dominating the Dores most of the game, ending in a 0-2 loss.

After the rain stopped, the JV team took to the turf field, ready to play some hockey...Monterey style. Yet, the dominate Viking JV team took control early on, scoring in the first 17 seconds of the game. Final score...0-4.

Gilroy @ MHS- Maybe it was the mud or the gopher holes...or maybe it was the flow between Monterey forwards Chelsea Persons and Erin Enea. Whatever it was, Gilroy spent most of the game trying to break a 1-1 tie. Gilroy scored first, as usual, but MHS answered loud and clear, breaking past the 50 and calling their first corner on Gilroy in three years. The stars were aligned on this one, with a goal off the corner by Persons, tying up the game in the first half. Half in awe, the Lady Dores played an amazing defensive game, holding Gilroy until the last four minutes of the game. Final score...2-1...a win for Gilroy, but a giant victory for MHS!!

The JV girls had a hard time breaking past the strong mid field play by Gilroy, but Gilroy did not hesitate plowing through the young JV defense. Final score...9-0.
