Lady Dores Battle for Victory Over RLS Pirates

Varsity Field Hockey continues to plow through the competition. Monday, October 1st, the Lady Dores hosted the Pirates of RLS. MHS faced RLS in the first round of the Willow Glenn Jamboree; both teams failed to score. That meeting would foreshadow the battle on Monday, for a MHS victory 1-0. After a turbulent first half, Monterey finally scored with 10 minutes left in the game. Forward Christina Wood made the winning goal and defense players Jacque deLeuw, Kathryn Harkins and Kelly Dunn helped fend off RLS from scoring. Lauren Crees had 2 saves. Keep it up Varsity!

It has been a tough season for the JV team, entering play on Monday 0-3. However, their hard work in practice and positive attitude on the field carried them to victory, defeating RLS 3-1. Freshman Center Half, Maddison Fitz, put the Dores on the score board early in the first half. In a break away, Forward Laura Weinbrenner (Frosh.) dribbled the ball down the field, with Adrianna Borrelli (Soph.) waiting to make the score. In the second half, Fitz scored during a penalty corner, securing the Dores 3-1 win. Goalie Isabella Martinez (Frosh.) had 3 saves.

Next game...Tuesday, October 9th at Santa Catalina- Varsity 3:30/JV 4:45

See you on the field!
