Despite the warm weather and only having three subs, the Lady Dores did very well at the 29th Annual Willow Glen Jamboree. Overall, the girls went 2-1-2, scoring 12 goals!
Friday afternoon, MHS faced RLS and University, ultimately ending both games in a tie. On Saturday morning, despite flat tires and chronic blisters, MHS got off to a great start. Katie Poma (soph.), Chelsea Persons (sr.), Erin Enea (sr.), and Emily Grose (soph.) each scored goals helping the Dores beat San Jose 4-0. The next game, against Willow Glen B showcased our amazing forward line. Erin Enea scored 2 goals in the first half, followed up by goals scored by Dominique Grillo (soph.) and Katie Poma. The second half got off to a great start with Chelsea Persons scoring another 2 goals followed up by 2 more from Elise Reidy (soph.) Our defense and goalie, got to rest, cheering on the forwards to a win of 8-0. Despite a valid attempt to out play Homestead, the Lady Dores lost their last game against, 4-0.
Overall, MHS did an excellent job! In the past, the Willow Glen Jamboree has been a challenge, with MHS facing the "elite" teams of Mitty and St. Francis. This year we were able to grow as a team, develop our skills and score....12 times!! Great job ladies and thanks to all the parents for the snacks, shade, and support!!
Next game.....Monday, September 17th @ MHS vs. N. Salinas: Varsity- 3:30; JV- 4:30
See you on the field!
