MHS Varsity Field Hockey Ends Week II- 3-1-0

After a 7-0 loss at Gilroy, the Lady Dores bounced back with two wins, ending their first week of league play 3-1-0.

On Monday, September 24th, Monterey faced the Padres of Carmel High School. MHS showed their strength with dynamic performances by Erin Enea and Dominique Grillo, each scoring a single goal for MHS. Chelsea Persons followed up with two goals, resulting in a MHS victory...4-0. Despite their first goal of the season, by Rochelle Werner (soph.) the JV hockey team fell to Carmel, 2-1, ending their first week 0-3-0.

On Wednesday, September 26th, MHS had their first league match against the Falcons of York. MHS met York early this season in a non league scrimmage which resulted in a tie of 1-1. This time, the Lady dores showed skill and strength, scoring 2 goals early in the first half by Erin Enea, assisted by Chelsea Persons and an amazing breakaway goal by Christina Woods (soph.) In the second half, Erin fought back with the help of Emily Gross, putting the Dores up 3-2. The last goal, by Maggie Finnegan (Jr.) led to Dores to the final score of 4-3. Goalie, Lauren Cress, had 11 saves. The JV team did not play.

Next game is Monday, October 1 at MHS vs. the Pirates of RLS. Varsity-3:30/JV-3:45
